my very first pride experience

“I just want you to know that there is nothing you could tell me that would make me change the way I feel about you.”

Bee – Season 1 Episode 11

hello and happy pride to you beautiful people! i am currently writing this at like 1am and my memory isn’t the best right now due to exhaustion. i apologize in advance if things are incoherent… ToT

oh my, what a day it has been. i was out in san francisco for basically the whole day for pride, and had the time of my life. i went to pride with two of my friends, and it was our first time in general. we decided to take the train and it was probably one of the best experiences. we were welcomed, and got an amazing little 4 seat booth, and given pride bracelets that i believe were from the train. either way, they were super inviting and the vibes were SO high in each car. drag queens came and walked by each car and absolutely ate.

san francisco is an amazing city for public transportation. it was one of our best friends for the day. but i’d say that standing was the bane of my existence. we walked from the train station to market street, which was about half an hour and not bad at all, and found a good view for the parade.

tell me why that parade was MUCH longer than charli, jamie, and i thought it would be. we were there around 10:30am, and by the time we left, close to 1pm, and the parade wasn’t close to finishing (at least thats what i thought). overall, the parade was SO much fun. all three of us did our best to give everyone energy so we were pretty much screaming the entire time. it got difficult because we were getting tired. a coffee break was definitely necessary, especially after walking and standing for two and a half hours….

speaking of coffee, we all got some caffeine in our system! we found this spot close to where we were called outset coffee! the interior was so cute and cozy; i got very thrown off when i realized our table could go higher and lower…jamie witnessed it all….

i got the beautiful toasted banana latte, with caramelized bananas on a little stick and good lord was it good. there was banana puree at the bottom but the flavor wasn’t overpowering at all! charli got the strawberry oasis to start (i later bought a second one because it was too good) and it was a jasmine tea base with strawberry foam topping i think. once mixed altogether, shit is so gas i cannot express it in words. lastly, but definitely not least, jamie got the caramelized banana latte!! this was also really good and had a sweeter taste to it! anything in this store is probably pretty good so i definitely recommend.

we chilled there for a bit and decided to head over to the civic center. the journey there was pretty easy (love sf public transportation), but the area around the civic center was PACKED. and rightfully so.

once we got into the actual event, we had a lot of fun! but, the amount of dicks we saw there was insane. we started to keep track of how many we saw throughout the entire day….jamie saw the least, which was 5, charli saw 12, and of course i saw the most….16…

of course this was NOT intentional AT ALL. i came to the realization that i tend to look at people’s midsections. i don’t usually like making eye contact with people, i get kind of uncomfortable, and i don’t like looking at people’s feet, courtesy to my ex. so where else can i look at someone? their abdomen.

other than seeing unwarranted dicks all over the place, we enjoyed ourselves. food lines were confusing, bathroom lines were insane, but the food was so worth it. the vendors were also so cute! i got a few things, one thing for my boyfriend, that were really cute! there was this stand that had a bunch of messages and the second picture down below reminded me of my boyfriend (i sent it to him, obviously). and the last picture is me showing off my new favorite bracelet!

overall, the day was AMAZING! we ended up hanging out all day and watched a few movies while having dinner at charli’s house.

next year, i hope that the three of us can go again, since we now have the experience of sf pride under our belts!
